Here's a newsflash--a celebrity who will have her child, or in this case, children, early! Most celebrities never make it through the ninth month or pregnancy, opting for c-sections at the eighth month in order to avoid getting ginormous during the final weeks of pregnancy. Too late, Rebecca!
Those carrying twins--celebrity or not--are more likely to give birth earlier anyway. Rebecca Romijn is both a celebrity and carrying twins, so she is expected to pop--or have her babies--sooner rather than later. She is allegedly being placed on bed rest starting in October in hopes of getting the twins she's expecting with super-lucky husband Jerry O'Connell in January through some time in December.
Romijn joins countless celebrities in recent months who've either gotten pregnant with or given birth to twins. Her husband Jerry recently commented that she was "huge" and then later apologized. Perhaps the baby hormones are affecting him too! Good luck, Rebecca! Here's to hoping you make it to the new year! I can't imagine a woman on the go like her having to deal with bed rest!!! That'll be harder than surgery!
According to The Guinness Book of Records, Bao Xishun is officially the world's tallest man. The 7'9" Chinese man earned that title by default as the actual tallest man in the world, 8' 9" Ukranian Leonid Stadnyk, has shunned all publicity and refuses to be measured. In guess one man's shame is another's pride. While Stadnyk is so distressed about his appearance that he refuses to even look in a mirror, 60-year-old Xishun has used his notoriety to find a wife.
After broadcasting his desire to marry with advertisements around the world, Xishun eventually found true love with a girl from his own hometown. Last year, he married 5'6" Xia Shujuan in a traditional Mongolian ceremony that was heavily sponsored by companies hoping to cash in on his fame. 29-year-old Xia insists it was love, not fame, that drew her to her husband. "You need to have feelings for someone to be in love. Even if he is a big shot, you can't love him without feelings", she said. Or in this case, maybe a ladder as well.
Despite the difference in heights, they are both walking tall now as they await the birth of their first child. Xishun is hoping the kid will be tall, but not that tall. "I hope he or she can be about 2 meters tall.' he said last year. "'Then he or she can play basketball." For those of you who are metric-impaired like myself, 2 meters is just over six feet - downright short compared to daddy.
Ah, the rumor mill. It was a'buzzin' with the notion that recent newlywed Mariah Carey is pregnant. Then it went on to buzz that Carey would announce her pregnancy on an upcoming stint with talk show guru Oprah Winfrey. Well, it looks like that ain't so, on any level.
According to Oprah's flack, the Butterfly singer has no plans spilling the beans on her show. The spokesperson did not make any statement as to verify if Carey is pregnant. The Glitter star's reps have been denying her pregnancy ever since she married Nick Cannon in a whirlwind.
Mimi certainly doesn't look pregnant. The singer has been quick to reveal her latest attempts at having the perfect body, which have been successful. Perhaps marriage--and maybe even pregnancy--have been good to her. Time, not the media, will tell.
Kate Moss has been known for a lot of things. In the eighties she was the face of the Calvin Klein fragrance Obsession. She was a supermodel. She was constantly embattled over her (lack of) weight. Then she had a child, and normalcy returned, until she was constantly in the spotlight for drugs and alleged partying ways.
In fact, rumor had it that Kate split from her most recent boyfriend, rocker Jamie Hince, because of her lifestyle. Not so, insists a source, who claims the real reason the couple split is that Moss was ready to become a mom again. According to the source the supermodel was keen to add to her family, which already consists of five-year-old daughter from a previous relationship.
So maybe Kate really is like the rest of us? She wanted a commitment, couldn't get one from the guy--he wanted to focus on his band--and perhaps she felt the clock ticking. Or not. I mean, this woman carries handbags that are worth more than my rent. But hey, you gotta feel for a woman who, if it's true, puts her family (and her biological needs) first. Good luck, Kate!
Kate's no stranger to the camera. Perhaps if she succeeds in becoming a mom again, she can join the ranks of these pregnant cover girls:
Many of you probably know Jamie Oliver. He is, among other things, one of the many chefs whose work is showcased on The Food Network and who enjoys the title Naked Chef. I don't know much about him, so I am not sure where he gets that title, except hat he wrote the book of the same name, but it certainly makes me want to tune in to his programming.
Well, Oliver and wife Jools (Juliette Norton) are apparently in the family way again. Jamie and his wife Jools are allegedly expecting the third child together. The couple currently has two girls, Poppy Honey and Daisy Boo, and it is also alleged that Jamie is keen for the third child to be a boy. In fact, according to the source, he's so desperate for a boy he'd be wiling to adopt to get one.
As the parent of a boy, I highly recommend it. It's great. That said, I am also about to become mom to a little girl, and I think that's the most exciting thing ever. There is a fifty/fifty chance that a child will be a girl or a boy, so it's tough to try to rationalize the sex of your unborn child one way or the other. Perhaps it is also not so wise to get your hopes up--and make them public--in case you happen to be wrong about what's lurking in that womb. I'm sure Jamie will be thrilled regardless of what his new child turns out to be.
Third time's a charm for Mark Wahlberg. The actor and his girlfriend Rhea Durham (who might possibly be the most beautiful woman in the word, seriously) welcomed a baby boy into the world this past Tuesday! The baby, whose name was not given at the time of this writing, joins older sister Ella and brother Michael.
The Funky Bunch front man has refused to reveal details or sell pictures of the baby, wanting to keep the family matter a private affair. Wahlberg will probably stay true to his word, too--we haven't seen much of his other children, and I am sure that is on purpose. Good for you, Mark!
The actor previously revealed he feels it's finally time to settle down and tie the knot with Rhea, speculating it would happen after the birth of their third child. Well, the baby is here, Marky Mark, so you'd better pull out the old tux!
Congrats to the couple on their newest bundle of joy!
Move over "John & Kate Plus 8." You ain't got nothin' on the Duggar family. For those of you unfamiliar with the Duggars (as I was), they're a family of nineteen, seventeen of which are the children. And now, according to reports, they're being given their own television show.
Like it or not the world has yet to see the last of reality television. The Duggars are to get their own stint in the world of reality showing what it's like not only to have seventeen kids (do I need a reality show to imagine what that's like?) but also what it's like to travel the talk show circuit and bathe in the limelight of stardom through (constant) procreation.

What's more, the show will follow the family as they grow--that's right, Mom Michelle is expecting another child! That will make enough for two baseball teams. What could we learn from the Duggars? I'm not really sure, but the Discovery Channel will give us the opportunity to find out. Will you watch the show, or are you too wrapped up in your own kids to try to watch someone else manage ALL of theirs?
Recently we at ParentDish reported to you that Naomi Campbell was ready to be a mom now that she's had some secretive corrective surgery to help her conceive. well, now all the walls are down and Campbell is being extremely open and detailed with the surgery, which occurred in Brazil and was until now kept pretty secretive. Apparently the supermodel underwent surgery to remove several cysts when doctors also repaired her fallopian tubes, which were damaged, meaning she would be able to have children.
Campbell said that in the year before the surgery she'd been in a great deal of pain and actually collapsed in her friend's apartment before following her pal's advice to see a Brazilian doctor. One of the two tumors (cysts) was infected and was leaking, and, according to the supermodel, would have put her in danger had it gone untreated. She says the doctors doing the surgery noted one of her fallopian tubes was blocked and took care of that issue as well. Campbell claims the surgery saved her life.
Perhaps it did. Perhaps it did in more ways than one. We've been quick to snark at Naomi's desire to have a child, now that we know all about her tantrums and violent behavior. That said, many a person has become changed after having a child--we tend to have more patience and generally be happier. Perhaps being able to be a mom will give Campbell a new lease on life (and more control of her temper!).
Would-be Dancing with the Stars champ Laila Ali is a mommy! (She was robbed, I'm telling you!) Ali and her husband, footballer Curtis Conway, welcomed a six pound, eight ounce, nineteen inch son into the world this past Thursday. Little Curtis Muhammad Conway is named, in part, for Ali's famous boxing champ father Muhammad Ali (real name Cassius Clay, a name I would have LOVED to see her incorporate, but Curtis rocks equally well).
People Magazine is reporting, in conjunction with Ali's website, however, that the labor did not go the way the American Gladiator star, 30, thought it would, and that her birth plan was altered. Uhm, yeah--it's not like doctors actually pay attention to those things anyway! Frankly, they do whatever it takes to get the kid into the world as quickly, easily, painlessly and safely as possible! No word on how the birth plan was changed, but if there's anything I can attest to, it's that the baby, and not the mommy, calls the shots in pretty much everything, including how he gets here!
Congrats to Laila and Curtis, who must be over the moon. Ali noted that Conway, who has two children from a previous relationship, had been picking up a lot of slack during the pregnancy and that he was going to be great with the baby once he/she arrived. Ali also noted that the child was sure to be an athlete given the awesome level of athleticism on both sides of the family. Good luck to little "CJ" as they're calling him, in everything he does, sports-wise and otherwise!
A source close to R&B star Usher and his wife Tameka Foster let the cat out of the bag recently, announcing that the couple is expecting baby number two sometime in December. If the rumor is true -- Tameka was spotted at a recent even wearing a "deceiving" dress -- the couple will welcome their second baby just over a year after their son Usher Raymond V was born.
Usher's rep couldn't be reached for comment, so let the bump watch begin. But if you listen to the way Usher talks about his firstborn, nicknamed Cinco, it's easy to see a second baby would be a welcome addition to the family. Calling Cinco an "extension of his union" with wife Tameka, he said that becoming a dad inspired him to give back. "Having a child completed the story. I had a giving heart, and I wanted to do something to mentor children." Usher started the New Look Foundation to help teens trying to break into sports and show business.
I love it when dads gush about their kids, don't you? We'll have to wait a bit to see if the rumors are true, but if so, congratulations to the whole family!
I LOVE Alex Borstein. Many may know her as the voice of Lois on the hit Fox adult cartoon series Family Guy (where she also serves as on of the producers), but I remember her from a little show called Mad TV, where she was a freakin' hoot. One of her best known and loved characters is that of Miss Swan, who was partially based on her grandmother. Well, now Borstein is adding to her resume by bringing a baby into the world.
The funny lady and husband Jackson Douglas welcomed son Barnaby Borstein Douglas, who weighed eight pounds, ten ounces, last Monday. Douglas stars in television's Gilmore Girls. It's the first child for the couple, who've been together since 1999. Douglas proposed to Borstein on the set of Mad TV.
Somehow, and I don't know why this is, but I feel like Uma Thurman is such a normal person. Sure she has ethereal beauty and is a megawatt star on the big screen, musing for heavy hitters such as Quentin Tarantino, but really she seems like she's just like everyone else. So I don't know what the big deal is with her bump watch. Rumors continue to fly that Ms. Thurman is once again in the family way. Sadly, Uma's actions are doing little to dispel those rumors.
The former Mrs. Ethan Hawke is already mom to two children, along with Hawke, Maya, 10, and Levon, 6. She recently became engaged to big wig money man Arki Busson. She's hinted that she'd like to add to her family. And now, goodness gracious, she's gone and ordered some clothes from Fred Segal that are a few sizes larger than her normal frame. Clearly someone at Segal needs to be fired, immediately, for letting her purchases slip, which, to me, is the much larger issue.
Also, hey, maybe Uma ordered those clothes for SOMEONE ELSE. Of course, there was that shot of her from this past summer in a bathing suit looking slightly bumped-out, so who knows. Obviously if she is pregnant she'll tell us about it when she's good and ready, unless someone at Fred Segal would like to do it for her. I know normal people don't really shop at Fred Segal (they can't afford it), but I rather feel like Uma deserves her privacy, just like the rest of us!
Ladies and gentlemen, Minnie Driver has finally had her baby. After what seemed like an endless pregnancy, and one surrounded by mystery, the Circle of Friends star has given birth to a baby boy.
First time mom Driver chose to forgo finding out the sex of her baby and refused to reveal the name of the baby's father, although much speculation has come of her decision. Little Henry Story Driver arrived Friday weighing in at nine pounds, twelve ounces! No word on whether the birth was natural or C-section, but both mom and tot seem to be doing just fine.
Driver was previously seen flaunting her mommy curves in a bikini and clearly enjoying her pregnancy. She has also stated she plans on most likely being a single mom and raising Henry with the help of family and friends. Oh, and she STILL hasn't spilled the beans about the daddy. You go, girl!!!
Not so long ago I mused over whether or not there was any truth to the rumor that Ashlee Simpson was carrying twins. Ashlee and husband Pete Wentz of Good Charlotte Fall Out Boy fame were allegedly hiding the fact that she was preggers with more than one baby but according to some fodder Pete let it slip there were two kiddos in there in a radio interview, which of course he denied or retracted or whatever.
Well, now the loose lips are at it again. This time they have the size of Ashlee's belly at the recent Video Music Awards to use as "proof" that the singer is doubling her pleasure. According to "friend" hip hop artist Tyga, the couple are in the family way in more than one way. Tyga told Eonline that they are indeed expecting twins and that they're really happy.
Don't bother holding your breath until something comes out that Tyga was misquoted or the words were taken out of context, etc. But, on the other hand, hey, why not--I thought celebs only had twins these days! To look at it you'd think twins were the new black. If Simpson is carrying them she'll make the twelfth celebrity parent to welcome twins in a matter of a few years. Trendy indeed!
Updated: Our friends at PopCrunch have assured us that nope, there's only one wee one in there. I guess the twin trend is over ...
Some rag is claiming that the hot mess that is Lindsay Lohan is keen to be in the motherly way. The rag in question is the UK's News of the World who has exclusive information from one of those "sources" we're always hearing about who claims to be close to La Lohan and her girlfriend, Samantha Ronson.
According to this source, Lohan wants to do it the old-fashioned way and has petitioned Sam to let her get the donation from an ex-boyfriend. No word on whom that would be, nor whether or not he'd be willing to rise to the challenge. The magazine goes on to claim Lindsay wants a child to cure her of her drug and alcohol problems. Hah! If anything, being a mom has driven me FURTHER to drink.
I kid, I kid. I'm also sure there is little truth to this report, but it's fun to think about...I guess. Everyone else in Hollywood seems to be part of the baby boom, so why not Lindsay Lohan too? If it is a baby she wants, then good luck with that. Let's just hope she's more choosy about who would be providing the sperm than she is with her recent film roles.
